I have heared that there will be possible to have in total three tuners in the box.
Can't find any information like that in your webpage hence I need to ask if the rumour I have heared is true.

LyngBox will have built-in DVB-S2 and DVB-T tuners, capable of decoding DVB-S/DVB-S2/DVB-T (both MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 incl. HD) signals.

It is also possible to add an extra DVB-S2 tuner through the expansion slot, enabling the user to record and watch channels from the same source simultaneously. Expansion card with an additional tuner will be available in Q1 2008.

Will there not be possible to add an extra DVB-T tuner through the expansion slot instead of a DVB-S2?
I would really love to have twin DVB-T tuners for Boxer and one DVB-S2 tuner so that the wifes relatives can watch their Polish channels when they visit...:)

Expansion slot will enable the addition of another DVB-T or DVB-S2 tuner to the LyngBox in order to enable viewing and recording simultaneously from the same source. DVB-S2 and DVB-T tuner modules will be sold as an accessory.

Installation of the expansions modules will be as easy as inserting a CI Module. You will only need to insert it to the expansion card slot at the back of the LyngBox without any need to open the LyngBox. A more detailed guide on installation of the modules will also be supplied with the tuner cards.

    As you may find in the FAQ part;
The DVB-S2 expansion module will be available in Q1 2008, while the DVB-T expansion module will be out in the market in the Q2 2008.

    Hi again,

When I today read all of the forums and information from Lyngbox including the FAQ section where the answer to the question "Will there be accessories connected to the Lyngbox?" is "Yes, an expansion slot card for DVB-S/S2 will be available from Q2 2008."
Nothing at all I can find anywhere about an expansion slot card for DVB-T that according to statements above should have been released in the previous quarter.
I need to buy a box very soon but I will not buy a Lyngbox if I cannot be certain that it will be possible to have twin DVB-T tuners.

Twin DVB-T tuners will be possible with the introduction of DVB-T expansion module, I will be able to give more details in a few days time on DVB-T module. Meanwhile the DVB-S/DVB-S2 expansion module is now shipped to many countries which already have LyngBox on sale.

    Dear Mikey,

The demand for DVB-T expansion module is not big enough yet to make its release, therefore it won't be possible to have twin DVB-T tuners for the time being.

DVB-S/S2 expansion module is out and users manual can be found @ http://www.lyngbox.com/support/manual/

    OK.
    Thank you for the information.
I will than have to go for two separate boxes.
Hence, Lyngbox is out of the question.

Is the DVB-S2 expansion modul released to the distributors?
I calld the distributor in Norway, Kjæeulff1, and they told me they did`nt know anything about this expansion modul existing.
There was only an DVB-T Mpeg2 modul they said.

With the current LyngBox software you would need 2 CI Modules and 2 subscription cards to be able to record and view encrypted channels simultaneously.

    @Arda...

You say with the current software... is it to be understood, that in a future release, both receivers will be able to share the same subscription card??

This is how most dual-tuner receivers work – and should obviously be the same with this high-end model, right?

I agree with Fredborg that one should be able to use 1 subscription card to be able to record and view encrypted channels simultaneously. Arda, is this also planned in a future release? I'm quit disappointed if this is not the case. It would be a big disadvantage. Most dual-tuner receivers are able to use 1 subscription card.

I should sadly inform you that LyngBox hardware desing does not let the simultaneously recording/viewing of encrypted channels with single module/card. Thus to record/view 2 channels from same encrypted bouquet, you need 2 modules/card. One module in the expansion module and one module on the main board.

So sad.... really makes the expansion card close to useless - unless the endusers keeps track of which channels are on which transponders :-(

If I had knew this on forehand I never would have bought the Lyngbox. This is really disappointing :-(
It makes the Lyngbox worthless and much too expensive!

Is it possible to use the second tuner with different satellites to the first one ?

I mean 2 diseqc switches with different satellites.

    TUNER 1: Astra - HotBird - BADR - Nilesat
    TUNER 2: W2 - W3A - Sirius -Turksat

You can only have the same satellite configuration on both tuners.

For the setup that you want to have I would suggest that you use an 8 port DiSEqC switch.

    Ok.
Would it be possible in the future to insert an option to enable the 2nd. tuner to be different from the first one ? Just to have more inputs.

I really have 5 diseqc switches (yes, 5 diseqc switches with 4 LNB each one).
4 of them are mixed in one 1.1 level diseqc, so I have 16 LNBs in one output cable, but the remaining LNBs (4) are in another cable.
I'd like to enable the second tuner just to have more inputs, not to record one channel & view another one.

"Thus to record/view 2 channels from same encrypted bouquet, you need 2 modules/card."

OK, with ONE module, will it be able to record two channels at the same time in the encrypted status? And if so, can the encrypted recording be 'opened' at a later moment?

Sadly, it is not technically possible to record two encrypted streams at the same time for one of them to be decrypted at a later time.

I have only one tuner !
    1. is it possible to record a scrambled chanel and play at the same time a recorded program ?
    2. do you need your smart card to play a recorded program (recorded from a scrambled chanel) ?

    1. Yes, it is possible to record an encrypted/FTA channel and play recorded movies simultaneously.
    2. No, you only need to have your module/smart card inserted during recording. You don't need to have them inserted while watching recorded movies from an encrypted channel.

"Sadly, it is not technically possibe to record two encrypted streams at the same time for one of them to be decrypted at a later time."

So, adding a second tuner in case a user wants to watch/record encrypted programmes has no use.
Are there any plans for a future model which has this option?

    Hello!
I want to buy a Lyngbox, and use it to DVB-T Mpeg4 HD transmission. Will it be possible to get a second DVB-T Mpeg4 tuner for the extension slot? If not I can't use PVR functions while watching another channel.
    Waiting for solution.

Unfortunately, production of DVB-T expansion module is still not in the agenda as the demand is still not big enough.
