Does the LyngBox use Linux as operating system?

Yes, the LyngBox software is a combination of open source and proprietary software.

Can I playback any movie on the LyngBox

The LyngBox can currently only playback movies in the format that it uses for recording.

What symbol rates can the LyngBox manage?

DVB-S: 1-45 Msymbols/s
DVB-S2: 10-30 Msymbols/s

What is the Ethernet port used for?

LyngBox is uniquely integrated with the LyngSat Network. With a required Internet service, connected to the Ethernet port on your LyngBox, you have unlimited access to automatic channel and program updates. You will also get your support answers thru the inbuilt email client.

Will there be accessories connected to the LyngBox?

Yes, an expansion slot card for DVB-S/S2 is available from our distributors.

Will the source code be made available?

Parts of the source code will be available. Source code based on open source products will be made available. Source code will not be available for proprietary software developed by LyngBox Media or third parties. Source code can be requested by contacting us.

Will CA module "X" work with the LyngBox?

The LyngBox supports the CAM Standard DVB-CI.

Can I receive Pay-TV channels with a LyngBox?

The LyngBox supports the so called Common Interface standard. Please check with your local Pay-TV provider if they deliver Common Interface modules together with a Pay-TV subscription upon request.

When can I buy the expansion module?

DVB-S/S2 expansion module is now available from our distributors. For information on where to buy, please contact your country distributor or local dealer.

Which picture format does LyngBox support?

The LyngBox supports JPEG format.

Does the LyngBox support antenna motors?

The LyngBox supports DiSEqC 1.2 motors.

Will it be possible to install new software in the LyngBox?

There are currently no plans to make this possible.

How many text-TV pages can the LyngBox store?

The LyngBox can store up to 800 pages.

Will the LyngBox be able to perform a blindscan?

The BlindScan feature is not implemented in the DVB-S2 tuner of the HW of LyngBox, it can however be done in SW, but it would mean that a blindscan would take a very long time to perform, and again that is why the implementation is not done in phase 1 release of the LyngBox.

Is it possible to connect an external drive and transfer/copy recorded programs?

It is possible to connect external drives through any of the 4 USB ports of the LyngBox. After a successful connection you can transfer files to and from the storage device through the Media Manager menu of the LyngBox.

In what format are the programs recorded to the hard-drive and can they be streamed?

LyngBox records movies in its own format, it is planned to enable the streaming of recorded movies from one LyngBox to another.

How can I perform a manual software upgrade?
  1. Download the software and save it on your hard drive on your PC.
  2. Transfer the upgrade file to your USB stick.
  3. Have the LyngBox on with picture.
  4. Connect the USB stick in any available USB connection on the LyngBox.
  5. The LyngBox will now do the upgrade automatically, when the picture comes back, the upgrade is done.
  6. Do a re-installation of the box. (This we recommend)

How is LyngSat Network connected to the LyngBox?

LyngSat Network is one of four partners in the LyngBox project. However all related questions to the LyngBox will be handled by LyngBox personnel via the LyngBox website.
